Housed within NewSchools Venture Fund, the EF+Math Program is equity-focused, research-informed and designed with educators at the center. Every student has the potential to be a powerful math learner, yet only 40 percent of 4th grade students in the U.S. are proficient or advanced in math, and the numbers go down even further in later grades.

The Russell Sage Foundation's program on Behavioral Economics supports novel research that uses insights and methods from psychology, economics, sociology, political science and other social sciences to examine and improve social and living conditions in the United States.

The Russell Sage Foundation's program on Social, Political, and Economic Inequality supports innovative research on the myriad factors that contribute to inequality in the U.S., and the extent to which social, political and economic inequalities affect social, psychological, political, and economic outcomes, including equality of access and opportunity, social mobility, civic mobilization and representation, and the intergenerational transmission of advantage and disadvantage.

Frontier research often generates unexpected or new opportunities for commercial or societal applications. The ERC Proof of Concept Grants aim to maximize the value of the excellent research that the ERC funds, by funding further work (i.e. activities which were not scheduled to be funded by the original ERC frontier research grant) to verify the innovation potential of ideas arising from ERC funded projects. Proof of Concept Grants are therefore on offer only to Principal Investigators whose proposals draw substantially on their ERC funded research.

A competitive Starting Grant Principal Investigator must have already shown the potential for research independence and evidence of maturity, for example by having produced at least one important publication as main author or without the participation of their PhD supervisor.

PIs can apply within the same HI or through different HIs. Where the different PIs may be hosted by more than one HI, each of these HIs shall offer their support to the PI(s) hosted by them for the duration of the grant. At submission stage, all Host Institutions must provide the host support letter for their Principal Investigator(s). The ERC Synergy Grant is awarded to the cHI that engages and hosts the cPI for at least the duration of the grant, and to any other HI that engages and hosts other PIs participating in the project.

The EHR Core Research program (ECR) invites proposals for fundamental research (basic research or use-inspired basic research) that advances knowledge in one or more of the three Research Tracks: Research on STEM Learning and Learning Environments, Research on Broadening Participation in STEM fields, and Research on STEM Workforce Development.

The ECR program places emphasis on the rigorous development of theory and accumulation of knowledge to inform efforts to address challenges in STEM interest, learning, and participation, for all groups and all ages in formal a

ERC Starting Grants are designed to support excellent Principal Investigators at the career stage at which they are starting their own independent research team or program. Applicant Principal Investigators must demonstrate the ground-breaking nature, ambition and feasibility of their scientific proposal.
