Saying توديع to visiting Saudi teachers
This month, 46 visiting scholars from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia returned home after a year of professional development in Phoenix, Arizona. Building Leadership for Change through School Immersion was a program created through a partnership between the KSA Ministry of Education and the Saudi Arabia Cultural Mission, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, Global Launch, Ashoka’s Youth Venture, and the Washington Elementary, Phoenix Elementary and Cave Creek Unified school districts.
During their visit the Saudi educators experienced a five-part program of study including an orientation to U.S. education institutions, English language training, technical knowledge and skills development, and guided immersion in one of the three school districts. Each of the visiting teachers also developed an individual professional development plan that included an action research proposal for a capstone project. Their proposals will support the sixth phase of their participation, the implementation of their projects in their classrooms and schools in the KSA.
