Financial aid and leadership development

The Arizona Teachers Academy at ASU provides Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College students financial assistance through the ATA award and educational and professional development experiences. To be eligible, students must be Arizona residents and commit to teaching in Arizona’s public schools after graduation.

Eligibility to apply:

You are an Arizona resident as determined by Arizona State University for tuition purposes.

  • Your FAFSA must be free of errors and your admissions application with all necessary materials must be complete for you to be considered for the ATA. Apply early to be able to resolve any errors or issues before the deadline dates.

  • Your account must be clear of any holds that might cause your financial aid package to not be disbursed, or of any hold that prevents you from registering for classes.

You fulfill one of the following criteria: 

  • You are a transfer student who has been admitted to an ASU bachelor’s degree program at term 5 or higher that leads to an initial teacher certification and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher at the institution from which you are transferring.
  • You are an ASU student currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program that leads to an initial teacher certification, are entering term 5 or later and have a cumulative GPA at ASU of 2.5 or higher.

  • You are an ASU student currently enrolled in a non-degree secondary education certificate program at ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers college and have a cumulative GPA at ASU of 2.5 or higher.

  • You are an ASU student majoring in a college other than Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College who is applying to any one of MLFTC’s teacher certification pathways, either as a dual major or a non-degree certificate, and have a cumulative GPA at ASU of 2.5 or higher.

  • You are admitted to an ASU master’s degree program that leads to initial teacher certification (including InMAC)  

  • You are an ASU student currently enrolled in a master’s degree program that leads to initial teacher certification (including InMAC) and have a cumulative GPA at ASU of 3.0 or higher 

Please note: You must be an admitted student at ASU before you can apply to the Arizona Teachers Academy at Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Your ASURITE UserID and password are required in order to access the application.
