Paying for college

Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College can help financially support your college education while you attend one of the country’s top-ranked colleges of education. MLFTC’s degree programs are designed to be more accessible and affordable to those interested pursuing both undergraduate and graduate-level education degrees.

Earn while at ASU

Several options are available for paid positions while you attend ASU.

Federal work-study is a need-based program that encourages community service work related to your course of study.

ASU hourly employment is available throughout the year and new jobs are posted daily. Off-campus employment opportunities may be available but are not supported or brokered by ASU or MLFTC.

Education at Work is a nonprofit organization that partners with local employers to fill customer service staff positions with ASU students.

Loans

Loans are not arranged or supported by MLFTC or ASU, but between you, a parent or guardian, and a lender. Loans available to students include:

Federal student loans are arranged between you and the federal government. Federal parent loans — usually called Parent PLUS Loans — are between a parent (biological, adoptive or stepparent) and the federal government.

Private student loans are offered by lenders, such as banks and credit unions. Their interest rates are higher than federal loans, and may require a co-signer. Other requirements vary between lenders.

Most states, including Arizona, and the U.S. government offer loan forgiveness programs for teachers. ASU and MLFTC do not arrange or support applications for loan forgiveness.

AZ teacher loan forgiveness

The Math, Science and Special Education Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program is offered by the state of Arizona for college juniors and seniors entering the teaching profession in Arizona public schools. These loans are arranged through the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education.

US teacher loan forgiveness

The U.S. Department of Education oversees two loan forgiveness programs for teachers.
