MLFTC to host the Next Education Workforce Summit 2022
In February, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College will host the Next Education Workforce Summit 2022. The virtual event, which will take place over a day and a half, will bring together education leaders and experts, and provide the opportunity to collaborate to redesign the education workforce.
The event is for anyone who knows that the one-teacher, one-classroom model of teaching and learning does not reliably deliver quality learning outcomes and experiences for enough people and communities, says Brent Maddin, executive director of Next Education Workforce Initiative.
The agenda is filled with expert sessions, featured networks, small-group networking, spotlights on schools, conversations on policy, research, outcomes and equity, insights on educator and leader preparation, and more.
“Often, the work of challenging the status quo is lonely work,” Maddin says. “This Summit intentionally brings together colleagues who are all in pursuit of better outcomes for both students and educators. This event will be equal parts inspiration, professional learning from experts in the field and networking with like-minded colleagues.”
Dr. John B. King, Jr., president and CEO of The Education Trust and former U.S. Education Secretary, is the Summit’s featured keynote speaker. In King’s current role at the national nonprofit organization, he seeks to identify and close educational opportunity and achievement gaps.
