The Lab for Advancing Human-Centered Technology Futures explores how computer science, AI, and emerging technologies influence and are influenced by education systems, practice, and policy. Our mission is to create more fair, inclusive, transparent, evidence-based, and thoughtful approaches to teaching and learning with and about emerging technologies.
The lab advances impactful, accessible education in computer science, AI, and emerging technologies in education. We conduct collaborative research to understand what works, build strong partnerships, and share actionable solutions to inform education policy and practice for an inclusive digital future.
Our lab’s funded research portfolio directly addresses challenges related to persistent access gaps to CS education, policy fragmentation, and the need to build teacher capacity in emerging technology through interdisciplinary, collaborative projects.
These projects form a connected research agenda that links data to action by bridging classrooms, state education departments, and communities. Each initiative contributes insights into how equitable, ethical, and human-centered technology implementation can shift from theory to practice.
