Overview

<p>The U.S. Department of Education (Department) seeks to support state and local educational agencies in implementing the Title II, Part A “Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting Fund” and meeting the teacher quality goals of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The Academic Improvement and Teacher Quality Programs (AITQ) Office part of the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE), administers the Title II, Part A Program to improve student academic achievement by deepening the content knowledge of teachers and providing research-based professional development. The Title II, Part A Program focuses on preparing, training, and recruiting high-quality teachers and principals. State Educational Agencies (SEAs), Local Educational Agencies (LEAs), and State Agencies for Higher Education (SAHEs) receive funds for these purposes and are held accountable to the public for improvement in academic achievement, and to use these funds toaddress challenges in Teacher Quality. AITQ requires the services of a contractor to provide a range of evaluation and analytic support to enable the Department to support state and local education officials. Under this contract, the contractor shall (1) provide analytical support for program monitoring reviews; (2) collect data and analyze Teacher Quality indicators; (3) provide logistical support for annual workshops; and (4) facilitate technical working groups.</p>
