Overview
<div>The purpose of this Request for Proposal is to secure professional development that will increase mathematical and pedagogical content knowledge using research-affirmed strategies and provide continual support throughout the school year.</div> <div>.</div> <div>The District is searching for mathematics professional development focused on the Illustrative Mathematics high school curriculum that will provide high school teachers the ability to develop deep conceptual understandings that include a depth and breadth of high school mathematics content with connections. The participants in the math professional development will be given multiple opportunities to engage in reflective practices, collaboration with other District math teachers, create effective learning experiences for students using research-affirmed strategies, and ultimately increase student achievement by making the mathematical practices evident in the classroom.</div> <div>.</div> <div>The District is looking for the following components to ensure that the math teachers meet the learning outcomes:</div> <div>.</div> <div>A. One 2-day summer institute that focuses on content knowledge tied to unit planning and instructional routines.<br>B. Four Saturday sessions throughout the 2019-2020 school year based on survey results of teacher needs.<br>C. Job-embedded professional development provided through monthly collaborative teams<br>D. Inspection at the teacher level – Awarded Offeror will complete on-site teacher observation quarterly. Through on-going needs assessments from outside consultants, the teachers will be focused on the following:</div> <div style="padding-left:30px">a. Classroom observations to provide feedback on best practices in Math aligned to the lesson structure in Illustrative Mathematics high school curriculum.<br>b. Present research based instructional practices on high cognitive demand tasks that increase student achievement aligned to the instructional routines in the curriculum.<br>c. Work with teachers to present instructional practices in the high school classroom to those documented to improve college readiness.</div> <div>E. Inspection at the team level – Awarded Offeror will conduct quarterly content specific Professional Learning Community training for high need teams in Mathematics to achieve:</div> <div style="text-align:left; padding-left:30px">a. Clarify and focus on collaboration in development content knowledge<br>b. Create authentic skill sets<br>c. Facilitate meaningful mathematical learning experiences to promote the coherence, focus and rigor of the state standards using the Illustrative Mathematics high school curriculum<br>d. Provide follow-up to trends in classroom observations.</div>
