Overview
<div>As a small foundation, the Longview Foundation must focus its resources in order to have impact. Trustees have identified K-12 education in the U.S. as their primary area of interest and fund projects that directly support building global perspectives in teachers and students. Proposals funded will advance the field or impact significant numbers of students.</div> <div></div> <div>The foundation will support efforts to expand teachers’ global knowledge and skills. Preference will be given to those teacher preparation institutions that are connected to state or citywide systemic effort in order to have a greater impact and to those using online courses for pre-service education or professional development. Proposed projects are reviewed with particular attention to:</div> <ul> <li>Partnerships & collaborative activities between institutions to further ensure impact and sustainability</li> <li>Integration of global dimensions into pre-service teacher education, both in pedagogy & subject matter</li> <li>The number of teacher preparation candidates reached</li> <li>Assess the impact of strategies on teachers’ ability to integrate global knowledge & skills into practice</li> <li>Financial support for continuation of activities beyond the grant period to assure sustainability</li> <li>Participation of both the College of Education and the College Arts and Sciences</li> <li>Clear commitments to work with the relevant state education agency and/or local school districts</li> <li>Dissemination plans to encourage replication at other institutions</li> </ul>
Solicitation Limitations: <p>Letter of inquiry required.</p> Other Information:<div>The foundation is interested in supporting activities that have other sources of funding and can demonstrate sustainability beyond the grant period.</div> <div></div> <div>Most grants will be between $15,000 and $25,000. Given the current economic climate, the Longview Foundation expects to make fewer grants at the top of this range in 2020.</div> <div></div> <div>What the Longview Foundation does NOT fund:</div> <ul> <li>Projects outside the United States or</li> <li>Projects that reach small numbers of students and teachers</li> <li>Work that does not advance or contribute to the field overall</li> <li>Support for individual PK-12 schools or programs within individual schools</li> <li>International travel</li> <li>Project work linked to a specific country</li> <li>Overhead/indirect costs above 10%</li> <li>Individuals</li> <li>For-profit entities</li> </ul>Last Updated:
