Longview funds proposals for one-year grants focused on increasing global dimensions within K-12 education in the U.S. submitted using one of the following strategies. Successful applications will contribute to the field and/or will impact significant numbers of students. We are placing a priority on applications that support professional development for teachers, globalizing career pathways, using AI to bring the world into your classroom, fostering civic discourse, and access to strong on-line global content in the categories as described below.
1. Internationalizing Teacher Preparation: The foundation will support efforts to expand teachers’ global knowledge and skills. Preference will be given to those teacher preparation institutions that are connected to state or citywide systemic effort in order to have a greater impact and to those using online courses for pre-service education or professional development.
Proposed projects are reviewed with particular attention to:
- Partnerships & collaborative activities between institutions to further ensure impact and sustainability
- Integration of global dimensions into pre-service teacher education, both in pedagogy & subject matter
- The number of teacher preparation candidates reached
- Assess the impact of strategies on teachers’ ability to integrate global knowledge & skills into practice
- Financial support for continuation of activities beyond the grant period to assure sustainability
- Participation of both the College of Education and the College Arts and Sciences
- Clear commitments to work with the relevant state education agency and/or local school districts
- Dissemination plans to encourage replication at other institutions
2. Innovations in International Education: This program supports strategic, field-building activities that help address gaps in knowledge or capacity. Projects will also be reviewed for their potential to have a broad impact and remain sustainable beyond the grant period.

As a small foundation, the Longview Foundation must focus its resources in order to have impact. Proposals funded will advance the field or impact significant numbers of students.
