Overview

Taking into account developments that have taken place in Latin America over the last ten years, the Foundation recently embarked on an evaluation of its grantmaking efforts. As a result of this strategic planning process, the Board of Directors has identified five program areas in which focused, expert research and innovation has the potential to make significant positive impact. While they are similar in theme to the previous funding for environmental policy, economic policy and governance issues, each thematic program has been redefined and reoriented with respect to specific priorities. The Foundation's grantmaking in the Education program area aims to improve access to high quality education among children and youth from economically and socially disadvantaged communities.

Solicitation Limitations:
Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to first submit a Letter of Inquiry to the Tinker Foundation to determine if the applicant's project aligns with Tinker's priorities.
Other Information:
For the next several years, funding within the Education program will focus on programs and policies that increase access to secondary and vocational education among traditionally excluded youth. Applicants should be developing innovative programs and policies to provide high quality and relevant educational opportunities to youth with poor access to traditional schools, or increase rates of secondary school completion among socio-economically disadvantaged youth. Funds can also be used to conduct applied research and evaluations that will facilitate replication or adoption by policy makers of successful programs, or to generate public and policy debate on the topic.
Last Updated:
