FY2021 U.S. Embassy Tokyo: U.S.-Japan Professional Exchange

Overview

<p><span style="font-size:1em">The U.S. Embassy Tokyo’s Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Department of State announces an </span>open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out exchange programs for midcareer level Japanese citizens. Such exchange programs can be either virtual or in-person, or a combination of both.</p> <p>The U.S. Embassy believes that exchange programs between Japan and the U.S. are fundamental foreign policy tools that continue to address critical issues between the two countries. Mid-career Japanese would also benefit from exchange programs with counterparts in their specific and specialized fields. These opportunities will allow mid-career Japanese to enhance their knowledge and add to their expertise, expanding their perspective on issues that are important to both the United States as well as Japan. These mid-career Japanese would also benefit from capacity building opportunities that could elevate their leadership and managerial skills as mid-career professionals.</p> <p><span style="font-size:1em">The Embassy is particularly interested in supporting proposals that achieve the following objectives: </span></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size:1em"> Build mutual understanding between the United States and Japan through interactions with Americans, possibly through a short-term visit. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size:1em">Share, receive, and analyze information, ideas, and perspectives on professional and personal topics of interest.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size:1em">Interact with American counterparts to build lasting relationships needed to address shared global challenges.</span></li> </ul>
