Overview

<p><span>The program recognizes educators nationwide who are incorporating digital media in classrooms and serving as leaders in educational technology. Over the course of the 2016/2017 school year, PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovators will be part of a robust professional learning community that will foster new ways of thinking, while leading the way in using technology to drive student achievement. 54 applicants, one from each US state and territory, will be designated as Lead PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovators and will also receive a three day, all-expense paid trip to Denver, CO to participate in the PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovators Summit and the prestigious ISTE Conference from June 25-27, 2016. Plus, each Lead PBS Digital Innovator will receive a Samsung Galaxy® tablet.</span></p>

Solicitation Limitations: <p><span>For classroom teachers only. Applicants must be employed as a fulltime or part time classroom teacher, media specialist, curriculum specialist, technology specialist or school librarian (or a combination of roles/grades), for students in any grade from Kindergarten through Grade 12 during the 2015-2016 school year and who intends to continue teaching in the 2016-2017 school year.</span></p> Other Information:<p><span>Application elements include a short form requesting professional qualifications, a 1-2 minute applicant-created video and two short essay questions. Part 1: The Application Video Educators are required to create an original 1-2 minute video that answers the following question: “Describe how you integrate digital media and technology to drive student achievement and create a culture of innovation in your classroom?” Be creative in making your video! Tape yourself using your smartphone or create an edited video- it's up to you! Things to keep in mind: Videos will not be scored on technical quality. Videos must answer the question "Describe how you integrate digital media and technology to drive student achievement and create a culture of innovation in your classroom?" Videos must be between one to two minutes in length. Only the first two minutes of the video will be reviewed. In order to share your video for judging, videos are required to be uploaded to YouTube and the URL must be provided in the PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovators online application. Videos are not accepted via email and or as an attachment to the application form. Part 2: The Application Essay Questions Educators are required to answer two short essay questions on the application (maximum 250 words each): How do you currently share your digital curriculum ideas with other teachers (e.g. blog, email, social media, in person)? Please include examples of any conference presentations, speaking engagements, virtual events, training experience, etc. What do you hope to gain from your experience as a PBS LearningMedia Digital Innovator?</span></p>
