Learning, Literacies and Technologies, PhD
Program description
The Doctor of Philosophy in Learning Literacies and Technologies prepares you to address and transform PK–20 education programs through rigorous research and interventions. The program graduates educational researchers who serve as scholars, leaders and teacher educators engaged in the design, development and use of literacies and technologies that promote learning.
Academic study and research in the LLT program focus on the nature of human learning and literacies across diverse learners and contexts, the use of technologies to support learning, the design of learning environments, and the conditions under which learning occurs. You’ll rely on transdisciplinary theoretical and methodological perspectives to engage with, influence and transform education institutions and their practices. You'll begin engaging in research studies during your first semester and continue throughout your four-year program. A transdisciplinary team of scholars led by distinguished faculty members will collaborate with you and your teams to design powerful studies, implement them in authentic settings, collect and analyze data, write research reports, and present and publish the results. Students are expected to engage in the doctoral program full time and are supported by Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College with funding renewable for four years with continued satisfactory progress.
