This year, ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College climbed from No. 14 to No. 11 in the U.S. News & World Report ranking of graduate schools of education. Among our public university peers, our college ranks No. 4.

Rankings are just one indicator of quality and progress. But this ranking continues a six-year rise from No. 35 in 2012. Our trend line makes a strong case that our college has done outstanding work for a considerable period of time. A trend line like that is signal, not noise.

I’d like to take this opportunity to celebrate the faculty, staff and students who make our college a vibrant, innovative learning community that shows up every day ready to think, design and work our way to insight and solutions together.

Sincerely,

Carole Basile
Dean, Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College

Effective praise creates a supportive place for everyone

You can tell a student "Good job!" Or you can give praise that's specific, descriptive, contingent, sincere and sensitive to students' needs; praise that enhances teacher-student and student-student relationships.
