“Student success requires more than just working with the kids.”

Amarilis Granillo Sotelo (MEd ’14) — "Nini," as she has been known since childhood — is a resource teacher at Sunset Vista Elementary School in Glendale, Arizona. She's completing requirements for her Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from ASU's Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. Nini plans to be a school principal, and she knows the kind of principal she wants to be.

"Creating school-level change is a challenge, and it's not something that one person can do on their own," Nini says. "It takes everyone who's involved in the school; the leadership team, the teachers, the support staff, the people working in the cafeteria. All of those people need to come together and be on the same page in order for change to be successful."
