Mishra named associate dean of scholarship

Punya Mishra will join ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College as associate dean of scholarship in August. He will support and nurture research and scholarship that positively impacts local, national and global communities and influences pre-K–20 education.

Currently a professor of educational technology and educational psychology at Michigan State University’s College of Education, Mishra also directs the Master of Arts in Educational Technology Program at MSU. His research has focused on the role of technology in teaching, teacher knowledge, creativity and design.

Mishra has taught courses at both the master's and doctoral levels in educational technology, design and media. He has also taught courses and conducted workshops on creativity, innovation and design for the MBA program at the Indian School of Business–Hyderabad, as well as the executive MBA program at Michigan State’s Broad School of Business. Mishra's many honors include the AT&T-MSU Award for Instructional Technology, which has won twice; for best online course in 2008 and best hybrid/blended course in 2013.

“Dr. Mishra brings that important combination of scholarly and teaching excellence that we value at Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College,"  said Dean Mari Koerner. "We’re confident he will help our college build on its record of innovative, impactful research. He is well-suited to the task of helping us develop stronger relationships and connections among our college’s faculty, among faculty across ASU."
