Leading lifelong learners

Kelley Blakslee (BAE ‘10) is earning her Masters of Literacy Education at ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College with the personal mission of helping students get to a place where they love books, love reading and are lifelong learners. Listen to Kelley explain how she has learned to become a true leader in her classroom.

However, with every mission comes an obstacle. “The biggest challenge is meeting the needs of all of our students. Every student who comes into the room is so diverse,” Kelley says. She quickly adds that each student is unique and has their own way of learning. But she has a plan. “As a leader in the classroom I need to be able to tap into each [way of learning], and also stretch them in ways that maybe they hadn’t been exposed to before.”
