She is the program coordinator for the Educational Technology Master’s program at ASU, and together with Dr. Jered Borup, she serves as Co-Editor of the Journal of Online Learning Research, an open access journal that publishes research focused on K-12 online and blended learning. Her research areas include teacher preparation for online and blended classrooms, the use of innovative technologies to improve learning outcomes, the nature of technological pedagogical content knowledge, and sustainability literacy among pre-service and in-service teachers.

Dr. Archambault's research has won multiple awards from prominent professional organizations including the International Association for K-12 Online Learning and the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. In addition, she has been recognized by Arizona State University, winning the Vision Award for Research and Content from Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development (OKED), the President's Award for Sustainability, and the Promising Research Scholar Award. She seeks a lasting impact on the practice of future and existing teachers throughout the state of Arizona and beyond.

Dr. Archambault is currently collaborating on an open source textbook focused on blended teaching in K-12 classrooms. She is also working to help international teachers develop information and communication technology (ICT) skills as well as their technological pedagogical content knowledge for integration in their classrooms. This mixed methods line of research is situated within the context of the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers, a grant funded by the U.S. Department of State for which she serves as Co-PI.

Research Interests

Guiding Research Questions:

  • What are the challenges that teachers face in online environments, what skills do they need to be successful, and how can institutions of higher education work to better prepare educators for online and blended environments?
  • What is the nature of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) and how does this inform preparing teachers for 21st century classrooms, a growing number of which will not have walls?
  • How can the use of emerging technologies improve the teaching/learning process and outcomes for both teachers and students, to prepare the next generation of literate citizens, particularly with respect to sustainability isses?

Current Research Projects:

Dr. Archambault is currently collaborating on an open source textbook, K-12 Blended Teaching: A Practical Guide for Teachers, focused on blended teaching in K-12 classrooms. She is also examining the impact of a required course on sustainability on the attitudes and actions of preservice teachers. In addition, Dr. Archambault is working to help international teachers develop information and communication technology (ICT) skills as well as their technological pedagogical content knowledge for integration in their classrooms. This mixed methods line of research is situated within the context of the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program for International Teachers, a grant funded by the U.S. Department of State for which she serves as Co-PI.
