Biography

 Mrs. Katie Haltorp is currently a Clinical Assistant professor and a site lead for Teacher Candidates in the MLFTC Professional Pathways program.  Mrs. Haltorp earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a dual major in Elementary Education and Special Education.  She continued her education at Northern Arizona University, earning a Master's Degree in Elementary Education.  Mrs. Haltorp taught special education classes in the Gilbert Public Schools district for twenty-three years.  She worked with students K-6 and hosted several teacher candidates over the past 15 years.  Mrs. Haltorp piloted special education curriculum that provided research data to support the use of specialized curriculum with students with learning differences.  Mrs. Haltorp also lead instructional trainings for paraprofessionals in the special education classrooms.  She collaborated with teachers, staff and community members to provide parenting skills support in the Gilbert area.  She is dedicated to preparing teacher candidates who understand special education supports, collaboration and laws.
