Biography

Janet T. Barrone-Curry is an accomplished fitness trainer and educator with many years of experience in the field of sports and fitness. She currently teaches undergraduates on the topics of exercise science and kinesiology as applied to the K-12 classroom. Professor Barrone-Curry has been researching development in school-aged children as it relates to the physical education classroom for the past four years. She is an accomplished fitness trainer and holds certifications in personal training, group fitness, pilates, and American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid.

Professor Barrone-Curry is the PAC program coordinator and oversees faculty associates who instruct sports, fitness, and certification programs within the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. She is the course coordinator for several physical education and online courses working toward an educational doctorate in higher education leadership. Professor Barrone-Curry is currently in collaboration with athletic director and administration of the STEM Academy on Arizona State University's Polytechnic Campus studying new ways to apply best practices within the physical education classroom. This ethnographic study has yielded useful, creative ways to identify factors that lead to individual student success within a multi-ethnic classroom.

Current Project:

Currently working with the athletic director and administration of the Arizona State University STEM Academy on the Polytechnic Campus to study new ways to apply best practices within the physical education classroom. This ethnographic study has identified useful and creative ways in which to identify factors that lead to individual student success within a multiethnic classroom.
