Biography

Elizabeth L. Frias taught middle and high school English and humanities in Albuquerque, Santa Monica, and Las Vegas prior to becoming a clinical instructor at Arizona State University. She fell in love with the clinical side of teacher education while completing her doctoral coursework. Professor Frias supervised student teachers, taught undergraduate level courses, and worked at Teach For America as a manager of teacher leadership and development in the past. She currently teaches within the MAC and InMAC programs and supervises apprentice teachers. Professor Frias' research interests include mindfulness in education, contemplative studies, teacher stress and burnout, and social and emotional learning. Her dissertation explored the professional and personal experiences of teachers who self-identified as mindfulness practitioners. She is constantly exploring and researching ways that teaching can become a sustainable career.

Research Interests

Research interests include mindfulness in education, contemplative studies, teacher stress and burnout, social and emotional learning, and classroom culture.

Frias is constantly exploring and researching ways that we can make teaching a sustainable career.
