Where an Educational Studies degree can take you

Sarah Cabilan (BAE '16) graduated from ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College with a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies. Like most, Sarah’s path wasn’t clear-cut. She started as an elementary education major, then changed to film, until she heard about the educational studies major and what it had to offer.

Now, only a year after graduation, Sarah is the education program manager at Keep Phoenix Beautiful, a nonprofit organization that inspires the community to better their environment through education and collective action.

Hear more from Sarah:

Day to day Sarah visits schools and businesses to teach children and adults about recycling and other sustainability topics, like gardening, composting and water conservation. “Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College prepared me for the career I have now by helping me learn how to be a teacher outside of the classroom.”

Sarah’s advice for current students: “There is so much you can do with an educational studies degree. Don’t limit yourself to the classroom. Think about the things you like to learn about and go from there.”
