The Master of Physical Education provides you with comprehensive knowledge of current curriculum and instructional and administrative practices and procedures in physical education. This program will provide you with the MPE degree, an institutional recommendation for Arizona secondary education (6–12) certification and a K–12 PE endorsement. MLFTC Professional Pathways experiences prepare you for Arizona certification by enabling you to apply knowledge from your coursework in various school and nonschool settings.

Total hours: 33 or 58, depending on track

Time to completion: 5–6 semesters (fall, spring and summer)

Professional experiences

Professional experiences for this program vary by track.

MAC track
Master’s with certification students will complete an applied project and take the AEPA (NES) Physical Education exam. The certification track also includes internships for at least two semesters and a full-time student teaching experience in the last semester.

Master's degree only track
The culminating experience is an applied project and written comprehensive exam.

Admission requirements

You must fulfill the requirements of both the Graduate College and Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College.

You must also have earned a bachelor's degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution. Minimum GPA: 3.0 (in the last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework).
