Doctoral degrees

Our doctoral programs prepare students to excel as scholars and leaders committed to mobilizing knowledge and people to improve education.

Doctor of Education (EdD)

EdD in Leadership and Innovation
Designed for practicing educator leaders who work in a range of settings and want to create better opportunities and environments for learners of all ages. The program is offered in both face-to-face and online formats. Both formats emphasize cohort-based learning and a research core. The program empowers graduates to develop research-based insights so they can drive innovations that address pressing challenges of practice.

EdD Special Education cohort
This is a unique track within the EdD in leadership and innovation degree program that is designed for leaders working in special education. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, cohort participants enroll in a four-year program that provides flexibility through a mix of online classes and in-person meetings on weekends and during the summer. They maintain their current employment status and are able to conduct a purposeful action research dissertation project relevant to a problem of practice in their current position.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

Our Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs prepare scholars who conduct rigorous transdisciplinary research that impacts education scholarship, policy and practice. Our PhD students work closely with our internationally recognized faculty on collaborative and independent research projects.

PhD in Educational Policy and Evaluation
Prepares scholars to engage in systematic analyses of education policies in a variety of settings, including schools, universities, research centers, government agencies and nongovernmental organizations.

PhD in Learning, Literacies and Technologies
Prepares scholars to generate knowledge that will catalyze educational interventions and innovations that can improve pre-K–20 programs.
