Amy Bartlett teaches science methods courses to elementary and secondary preservice and apprentice teachers, and supervises apprentice teachers currently placed in secondary science classes. Prior to working for ASU, she taught science for 19 years and accelerated elementary math for seven years in the Peoria Unified School District at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels. She has an master's degree in space studies and a passion for teaching Earth and space science. She has conducted outreach opportunities as a NASA MESSENGER educator fellow around Arizona, at Space Center Houston, and at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Likewise, she has enjoyed participating in professional development through Honeywell Educators at Space Academy, Honeywell Green Bootcamp, Teachers in Space, the Space Exploration Educators Conference, and the ASU Mars Student Imaging Project. She works closely with colleagues at ASU to integrate STEM further into ASU science methods courses to best prepare teachers to utilize inquiry-based methods and problem-based learning in their classrooms. She also looks forward to conducting STEM outreach opportunities for existing teachers across the Phoenix area to equip them with tools and strategies to successfully implement STEM in their classrooms.
