Biography

Laura Corr is a proud first-generation Latina keenly interested in issues revolving around special education equity. She is a graduate of Chicago State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Secondary Education. She received her Masters Degree in Special Education from Arizona State University and is currently a doctoral student in the Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation program and Special Education Leader Scholar Communities (SELSC). Laura spent over twenty years in public school settings, primarily working in a variety of Special Education settings. Professor Corr has been a faculty member at the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College since 2011. Laura has a passion for supporting learners who will be the next generation of Special Education leaders.

Research Interests

Laura is specifically focusing on the particular challenges faced by rural first-generation Latino students. Her research focuses on the role of parents in developing student self-efficacy among this unique population. In addition, Professor Corrs research interests include the transition of high school students in special education to post-secondary education with a goal of bringing equity in access to individuals with disabilities.
