David Berliner: “The responsibility of scholars in education to speak out against misunderstandings and lies”

    David Berliner is a Regents Professor of Education and research professor at ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College. He is a member of the National Academy of Education, a fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, and past president of both the American Educational Research Association and the Division of Educational Psychology of the American Psychological Association.

    Berliner is the recipient of awards for distinguished contributions from APA, AERA and the National Education Association. He is the co-author of several books, including the best-seller, “The Manufactured Crisis” (with B.J. Biddle); “Putting Research to Work” (with Ursula Casanova); and with N.L. Gage, the textbook “Educational Psychology,” now in its sixth edition.

    Berliner’s most recent book, “Collateral Damage” (with Sharon Nichols), is about the corruption of professional educators through high-stakes testing. He is also the author of more than 200 published articles, technical reports and book chapters.
