A high school student or incoming freshmen?
All new incoming freshmen students admitted into the MLF-COE are classified as professional program education majors (see major link below). Students are advised by a team of pre-professional academic whose primary focus is to prepare students during their first two years to transition into their respective Initial Teacher Certification (ITC) program-which typically occurs during their junior year.
Our curriculum follows a prescribed series of courses which are referred to as "Critical Tracking" which contains specific courses that students will need to fulfill during each of their semester in order to progress each semester and to meet the requirements of transitioning into an ITC program (junior year).

Transfer student (new to ASU)?
Transfer students are advised by a team of academic advisors whose primary focus is to prepare students for admissions into the Initial Teacher Certification program.
While the university accepts transfer credit from accredited institutions, some or all transfer credit may not be applicable to a Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAE) degree. Students completing course work at community colleges or other universities within the state of Arizona should consult the appropriate transfer guide in order to obtain information specific to our major. We also encourage you to seek advisement from you prior institution within Arizona prior to transferring to ASU. Curriculum agreements between other Arizona universities, community colleges and ASU will help you with a successful transition into ASU.
If you are a transfer student, not currently admitted to ASU but interested in the Fulton College programs, we also offer these additional services:
- Advising availability in the Transfer Thursday program
- Pre-admission advising conducted in specific classroom and site visits
If you are a transfer student already admitted to ASU, you need to attend an Initial Advising Session (IAS) developed specifically for transfer students, new to ASU.
