About TEAMS – Teacher Education for Arizona Math and Science

If you would like to make a difference in the world through a career of service in teaching, TEAMS could be the most challenging and productive experience of your life.

The Teacher Education for Arizona Math and Science (TEAMS) program leads to Secondary School Certification (grades 7-12), Middle School Endorsement (grades 5-9), and a Masters Degree in Secondary Education.

Admission

Following are requirements for entry into the TEAMS program:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 30 credit hours in a single science discipline or 30 hours in mathematics. For potential math candidates, a calc 1-3 sequence is highly desired.
  • Junior/senior minimum GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • A letter of intent stating your reasons for wanting to participate and the objectives you have for your involvement in the program.
  • Availability for 10-1/2 months of full-time education from July 1 to mid-May the following year.

Required Experiences

  • Eight (8) semester hours of graduate level work beginning Summer Session II.
  • Practicum experience in CUSD middle and high schools before student teaching.
  • Student teaching during early spring semester with completion of videotaped lessons, written lesson plans, and observations of teaching by ASU supervisors.
  • Educational research carried out during student teaching.
  • Completion and presentation of the Master's applied project during spring semester.
