Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

computerThe Educational Technology PhD program focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of instructional systems and on educational technology applications to support learning. The doctoral program emphasizes research using educational technology in applied settings and prepares students for a variety of professional positions. Graduates are typically employed as university faculty, educational technologists in universities, community colleges, and schools or as training managers in corporate settings.

ARTS, MEDIA & ENGINEERING (AME) CONCENTRATION

Arts, Media, and Engineering (AME) is a concentration in the Educational Technology PhD program. The AME concentration provides graduate students with the opportunity for

  • training that combines solid knowledge in their discipline with interdisciplinary knowledge in digital media
  • hands-on investigation of current issues in digital media research and development
  • participation in high-end interdisciplinary media research
  • lead roles in collaborative, interdisciplinary development of novel experiential media systems for education.

Prior to admission, students must have completed their bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution or university of recognized standing. See individual program pages for specific information about application materials and submission deadlines.

Admission decisions to Educational Technology programs are made by the ASU Graduate College using recommendations from the Educational Technology faculty.

Application to all programs begins through the Arizona State University Graduate College, using their online application.
A variety of full and partial funding packages are available to students in the form of student research assistantships, teaching opportunities and scholarships. Students may request consideration for funding at the time of application.
