About the workshop

The Mary Lou Fulton College of Education offers both workshops and supplemental study materials to help ASU students and alumni prepare for the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments (AEPA). This is the exam all new educators must take and pass in order to receive a teaching certificate in the state of Arizona. For detailed information about the AEPA, including required tests and scores, visit the Arizona Department of Education AEPA website. The workshop and materials are provided free of charge to current ASU students and alumni.

NOTE

If you are not an ASU student or alumni, there will be a $30.00 fee to attend the workshop. The fee must be paid by personal check, money order or cashier's check (no cash, credit or debit cards accepted) the morning of the workshop. Workshop attendees who do not pay the fee will not be permitted to attend.

What will the AEPA workshop do for me?

  • Discuss the test objectives for the Elementary Education Professional Knowledge exam
  • Review practice questions for the Elementary Professional knowledge exam
  • Review practice questions for the Elementary Subject Knowledge exam
  • Review practice questions for the Professional Secondary Education Professional Knowledge Exam
  • Test Taking Strategies Presentation
  • Online access to Supplemental Workshop Material not reviewed during the workshop

Workshop and materials

Workshops are usually held two weeks prior to each AEPA exam. For current CoE students, it is recommended that the workshop be taken in the 3rd block.

Please read all information and directions carefully. If you already have a copy of study guide volume 1, published by NES, you will not need to print most of the required material from this site. Please bring the study guide with you to the AEPA workshop. If you do not have a copy of volume 1, this web site has the required materials covered in the workshop. These materials will not be available at the AEPA workshop.

This site also contains supplemental materials that will not be discussed in the workshop. You may use them at your discretion.

The AEPA workshop will cover the Professional Knowledge exam, both elementary and secondary and the content portion of the elementary exam. Secondary content tests will not be covered, however, some of the question types will be reviewed, i.e., math, science, and language arts.
