Three research centers are currently housed in the Fulton Institute. These centers serve as intellectual places where focused inquiry by faculty and students address issues specifically germane to their individual missions. These centers include the following.

Center for Research on Education in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technology (CRESMET)

James Middleton, Director

The center is a collaborative that leverages intellectual and fiscal resources from across the university to study and improve education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The center supports research and development that demonstrates coherent, consistent, and conceptually powerful mathematics, science, engineering and technology education from kindergarten through college (K-20). The center brings together individuals, programs and organizations interested in improving K-20 STEM education. This collaborative approach to knowledge generation has established communication avenues for intellectual and material products proven effective in supporting powerful learning in the STEM fields. Center for Indian Education (CIE)

The Center for Indian Education was established in 1959 as an interdisciplinary research and service organization. Its purpose is to:

  • Serve as a major research and resource clearinghouse in the field of Indian Education and related fields at the local, state and national levels; and
  • Provide various services to Indian communities and the Arizona State University community of students, staff, and faculty.

The Center for Indian Education promotes studies in American Indian/Alaska Native policy and administration that contribute to the quality of scholarship and effective practices in education, professional training, and tribal capacity building. The center fosters relationships between the university and sovereign tribes as well as supports training and technical assistance for community programs that bring scholars and tribal community members together.
