INCITE INCITE ( INtegrated Certification In Teacher Education )is a Master’s program for individuals who want to teach in secondary school settings (7-12).

Academic subject areas include: Biological Sciences, Business, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Economics, English, French, Geography, German, History, Japanese, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Social Studies, and Spanish.

Program features

The INCITE program leads to:

  • An MEd in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in Secondary Education.
  • An Institutional Recommendation from ASU for Secondary (7-12) Certification. Coursework may qualify candidates for a middle grade endorsement if student teaching is completed in grades 7-9.

Additional information

  • The 39-credit hour program can be completed in one calendar year (including summer) if attending classes on a full-time basis.
  • Candidates may also complete the program at their own pace.
  • Classes are scheduled primarily in the evenings.
  • Scholarships are available from both the college as well as from the ASU Graduate College and the ASU Student Financial Assistance offices. Visit the college scholarship web page for details.   • Field experience and student teaching
    Field experience is a concurrent requirement for methods classes, completed in an assigned classroom.
    Student teaching is a full-time, 12-week teaching commitment with an assigned mentor teacher. Other arrangements may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Admission

While applications are accepted throughout the year, the following deadlines give students priority for consideration:

Summer - March 1
Fall - June 1
Spring - October 1
Applicants who want to complete the program in one year should begin coursework in the summer and apply by March 1. After March 1, admission is on a space available basis for a one-year program completion.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet eligibility criteria to be considered for INCITE.

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A junior/senior cumulative GPA of 3.00 from the last 60 hours of course work completed for the baccalaureate degree.
  • Complete the Graduate College application as a degree-seeking student.

The admission process may include an interview.
