The Counselor Training Center (CTC), which was established in 1956, provides confidential counseling services for ASU students, faculty, staff and the community-at-large. The CTC is located in Payne Hall, Room 401 (EDB 401), located south of Lattie F. Coor Hall (COOR) at Myrtle and 10th Streets.

Center Director, Judith Homer, PhD, joined the Counseling Psychology faculty in 1998. She managed community counseling departments for 8 years before assuming directorship of the CTC at ASU. In addition, she has 15 years of clinical experience.

Hours subject to change, appointment times and availability may vary.

Monday - Thursday — 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Friday — 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

Who provides services?

The counselors at the CTC are graduate students working toward either their Master of Counseling or Doctorate in Counseling Psychology degrees. They work under the supervision of faculty members who are licensed psychologists. The counselors in training work with individuals, couples and families to help them resolve personal, career, marital and adjustment issues that are barriers to healthy relationships and productive lives.

What services are provided?

The Counselor Training Center provides counseling services for a broad range of problems, including but not limited to:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • family problems
  • relationship issues
  • career counseling
  • stress management
  • skill development

The CTC provides individual, couples and family counseling for children, adolescents and adults.

How services are provided

Counselors at the CTC see clients on a semester-to-semester basis. Clients are scheduled for standing 1 hour weekly appointments for the duration of the semester. Depending on when a client initiates services, he/she could receive up to 12 weeks of services. Clients who wish to continue counseling the following semester may request to do so.

What are the fees?

Full time ASU students, faculty and staff — No fee

Part time ASU students, faculty and staff — $30/semester

Community Members — $60/semester
