exploreIn an address to the Seventh Glion Colloquium in Montreux, Switzerland on May 27, 2009, President Michael Crow clearly articulated Arizona State University’s transformation into the “New American University” when he characterized it as being “an egalitarian institution committed to the topmost echelons of academic excellence, inclusiveness to a broad democratic, and maximum societal impact.” Reflecting this perspective as an innovator in higher education, both nationally and internationally, is a realization that ASU has a particular responsibility to respond to the urgent and accelerating pace of new and evolving challenges faced by our public education institutions today.

To maximize ASU’s ability to respond to critical challenges in education, the Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education was established by the Arizona Board of Regents on May 30, 2009. Previous to this reorganization the faculty, facilities, and educational programs now associated with the Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education were part of the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education. The purpose of this document is to provide an overview of the Mary Lou Fulton Institute and Graduate School of Education and present the organizational structure that supports it is a nationally respected faculty and highly ranked graduate programs.
